| French School, watercolour on ivory, portrait miniature of a young boy, attributed to Charles Henard (d. 1808). The 3/4 length oval portrait depicts a young boy facing right. The boy, with blue eyes and auburn hair worn in curls, is wearing a blue frock coat, white waistcoat, collar, and striped red and white cravat. He stands with his right hand on his hip, and his left hand resting on a low wall. Against a foliage background. Gilt-metal frame. Crimson silk reverse. 7 cms. X 5 1/2 cms. (2 3/4 inches X 2 1/2 inches). Very good conditon. Charles Henard was born in Bourg-en-Bresse sometime around 1757. He was a pupil of Taraval. We worked in both France and in England and exhibited a the Royal Academy, London, from 1785 to 1800, and at the Salon de Paris from 1791 to 1808. | |||||||
