| English School, water color on ivory, portrait miniature of Marmaduke John. The 1/2 length portrait of the child, with fair hair and blue eyes, depicts him wearing a dark dress with lace collar. Against a landscape background. Ebonised frame with inner brass slip. Oval portrait, 7 cms. diameter (2 3/4 inches). Rectangular frame 14 cms. X 12 cms. (5 1/2 inches X 4 3/4 inches). To the reverse written "Marmaduke John --usdole/aged 4 1/2 years/painted by 'Aunt ------/in May 1848". Good condition. | |||||
